more about
why we’re proud
to call Haworth
our principal
manufacturing partner:
Haworth, Inc., headquartered in Holland, Michigan, is the second
largest contract furniture manufac-
turer in the world and the principal
manufacturing partner of Workplace Alliance members.
Haworth has a global
business perspective and a global approach to R&D
and manufacturing which enable Haworth dealers to offer product solutions
incorporating some of the best design, engineer-
ing, environmental and
ergonomic features in the world. At the same time, due to Haworth's enormous
manufacturing base in the United States, our clients have access to world-class,
American-made products that meet OSHA and BIFMA requirements and support
LEED-CI certification.
While very much a global operation, Haworth understands that its success rests
fundamentally on the strength of its customer relationships in each local market
it serves. That perspective translates into an extensive allocation of localized
Haworth resources to ensure that every client of
a Haworth dealer has a positive
experience, from idea generation to specification to installation.

Environmental Responsibility
As a matter of corporate policy, Haworth
is committed to providing products
and
services that satisfy the needs of its
customers without detriment
to the
natural environment or to the health
and safety of its members
and the
communities it serves.
Haworth is implementing
this
commitment
across
the 10 countries and 43
plants where
it manufac-
tures
and the more
than
120 countries where
it distributes products
and services.
Haworth is the first global manufacturer of office furniture to
invest in a 100%
owned manufacturing facility in India. The
facility [above], in Pune, Maharashtra,
India,
was inaugurated
in March 2006.
Leadership in Sustainable Design
Haworth’s “Adaptable Work Spaces” initiative highlights the
company’s unique capability to provide customers with truly innovative,
comprehensive, adaptable solutions integrating its raised floor
systems,
moveable walls, plug-and-
play cabling, and wide variety of
system products.
Using these product building blocks,
Haworth can transform
a building
shell
into a flexible, modular work
place
incorporating leading-edge
technologies.
Spaces can be readily
and efficiently reconfigured without
waste and without
the need for additional,
resource-consuming
manufacture of
replacement
products.
Comfortable
interior
environments can
be maintained
with higher efficiency.
Haworth Adaptable Work Spaces
products are highly supportive of LEED rating
criteria, including a potential
for LEED innovation credits. (LEED is the acronym for
the US Green Building
Council’s Leadership in Energy
and Environmental Design
national standards program.) Use of these products
in Haworth projects has
resulted in LEED-CI certifications, including the
industry’s first LEED-CI Gold rating.
Commitment
to Sustainable Product Development
Haworth is committed to Design for Environment strategies,
including cleaner materials, increased recycled content, design for disassembly,
recycling and renewable materials. For example:
Haworth’s new Zody™ chair is the first to earn the McDonough
Braungart
Design Chemistry (MBDC) Gold Cradle to Cradle™ Product
Certification. This
award represents very high achievement for using
a manufacturing process
that incorporates sustainable materials,
components
and systems, appropriate
energy and
water usage, and socially
responsible
corporate practices.
The woods, veneers, laminates and MDF
used
in Haworth furniture and the veneers
used in
Haworth moveable walls all have
Forest Stewardship
Council certification.
Virtually all of Haworth’s latest system,
seating and storage lines carry Greenguard
Indoor Air Quality certification.
Sustainability initiatives extend to the
packaging
for Haworth
products and
even
to the trucking methodologies.
Leadership in Environmental and Total Quality Management
Haworth was the
first U.S. office furniture manufacturer to receive third-party
ISO 9001
quality program registration and was among the first in the industry to
achieve
third-party ISO 14001 registration. Nine Haworth manufacturing facilities
around the world are third-party registered to the ISO 14001 Environmental
Management System (EMS) standards; six of these sites are in the US.
Haworth
is the industry’s only
Malcolm Baldridge National
Quality Award
finalist, the
only industry manufacturer
to receive the Michigan Quality
Leadership
Award, and the
first in the industry to receive
accreditation under ISO/IEC
17025, an international
standard recognizing technical
competence in mechanical
testing.
